Curriculum

Most students will use Nancy and Randall Faber’s award winning series of books as a starting point. From there, students are free to explore their musical passions, including learning their favourite pop song or classical music piece, as well as music from Broadway, movies or video games. We don’t learn unless we’re having fun, and to have fun, we have to love what we’re playing!

Lessons

While lessons are tailored to the strengths and challenges of individual students, they will usually comprise some or all of the following subjects:

  • Reading and notating music

  • Composition

  • Improvisation

  • Ear training

  • Theory

  • Keyboard work

  • Rhythm training

  • Singing

  • Music history

  • Mindfulness

Recitals

As part of their lessons, students will have an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience twice a year. During these recitals, students can show off what they’ve learned in a supportive environment and celebrate the achievements of their studiomates.
